Sara started her business 16 years ago and was a traditional silver and gold jeweller. She studied fine art and ceramics at university and colour and pattern design was always a big part of Sara’s work. After a few years Sara wasn't enjoying metal as much as she once did. Sara has always felt that if you don't love what you do it shows in your work so she went back to a medium she discovered when she was a teenager, polymer clay! Immediately she was able to produce bright, wild patterns which could be made in any colour! Sara mixes her own colours and designs all of her own patterns, everything customers buy is entirely handmade.

The following year Sarah underwent a summer of Radiotherapy, which was very draining but successful.
Covid came along and rocked everybody's world, however, it provided Sarah with an opportunity to start a new little business, initially as a hobby, making wax melts for herself and to gift to friends and family. She knew that she needed to create something special that not only meant something to her and catered to her hunger for creation, but also sang to her heart and personal beliefs and ethos. Nicola spent years studying the intricacy of aromatherapy, observing nature, the world outside and the world within.

When she finally began to create her products, she painstakingly, through trial and error developed her own unique blend of scents, applying them to the range. Nicola wanted everything to be exactly as she had envisioned, making sure to ethically source every piece of ingredient and material used. Throughout her journey, Nicola has never stopped learning, creating and enjoying her craft. Every step of the way has been its own little challenge, but each new thing she learns is something else she can offer the world, be it a simple candle made with ethically sourced pure essential oils or a new blend of scent for room sprays or diffusers that aren’t full of nasty chemicals.

5 Reasons To Take A Family Glamping Trip This August

Whether it was a single trip as a child or regular weekend getaways, chances are you've been camping at least once. But have you ever thought about or tried glamping? The opportunity to spend time in nature is frequently the most compelling reason to choose a glamping getaway. With so much technology in our lives, from smartphones to smart homes, many travellers are choosing to reconnect with nature and escape the chaos of modern-day life. Whether a totally new experience for everyone or a chance to rekindle those childhood memories with your loved ones, here are our top five reason’s to love glamping this August.

  1. It’s The Best Of Both Worlds

Because glamping is derived from camping, it means that you get all the best parts - but way less stress and way more luxuries. At Happy Valley, we have real beds, home comforts, fire pits and hot tubs… all are set in the heart of 9 acres of woodland to explore. With fire pits for marshmallow toasting, barbecuing and storytelling around the fire in the evenings, you still get to grab the best parts of a fun camping trip, just with the added luxuries.

  2. It’s An Affordable Family Break Away

It’s so easy to plan a last-minute glamping trip with your family, without the stress of flights, passports and all the extra added stress (and costs) that jetting abroad brings. Staycations offer you a viable alternative to travelling abroad with less travel time, reduced travel fees and often cheaper activities whilst you are there. In Norfolk this season, there is lots going on from carnivals and festivals to family attractions such as BeWilderwood, Sandringham Estate and exploring the Norfolk coastline.

  3. Make New Memories & Traditions

Just like we all have birthday or Christmas traditions for example, why not start a glamping tradition with your kids this summer? It will be something that the whole family can enjoy, you can explore new areas and it will be something that they will remember for life. It’s also fabulous for a couple of families looking to get away and enjoy a new experience together, so you can all stay in the same place and share all of the fun.

  4. A Natural Experience

There is no comparison between staying in a resort or hotel and experiencing nature in the wild. Being in the great outdoors provides us with a sense of freedom that other vacations do not provide. It can also make us truly appreciate the natural world we live in and make us think more consciously about how to be more sustainable when we get home. This is also a great learning curve for your children, implementing an eco-friendly mindset from an early age.

  5. Recharge Everyone’s Batteries Before Autumn

Taking yourself off the grid is a great way to rejuvenate yourself before the school holidays end. Nature is good for your emotional, physical, and spiritual batteries. It offers a sense of calm and peace. In these moments, you become conscious and gain a new perspective on whatever is going on in your life. You’ll return home with a fresh headspace and feel revived from your trip away. As we love to say; disconnect to reconnect, and being in nature with your family is the perfect place to do so.

Feeding Your Immune System Ahead Of Winter

Many things call for change this season; our wardrobes, our outdoor activities and the dial on our heating. Our immune system also needs small changes in order to keep us healthy and in tune with the season, preparing our bodies ahead of winter next month. A simple way to help boost your immune system? Changing up your cooking routine. Dinner times can be made more enjoyable and boost our moods in the process of cooking as well as what we eat.

Since we will be absorbing less Vitamin D from natural sunlight, it’s important to make sure we keep our levels up. Fish, eggs and mushrooms are all high in Vitamin D. Beef and shellfish are a good source of vitamin B12, which is known to help with our nervous system, digestion and brain function. Vitamin B12 also helps with enhancing our moods, fighting off those winter blues. For a vegan option, there are many foods fortified with B12, such as tofu and soymilk (always be sure to check labels to get the best options.)

Garlic is a great antioxidant and anti-inflammatory

A Winter Nights Chilli - A Jamie Oliver Recipe

Fresh fruit and vegetables are bursting with vitamins

Herbs and spices are packed with natural immune boosters, so adding these to dishes is a very simple way to enhance your health. Green chillies are packed with vitamin C and are great in curries and spicy dishes. Garlic contains antioxidants and has anti-inflammatory properties and may help lessen the severity of cold and flu symptoms. Ginger and honey are also great for the same reason, so you could add it to your morning tea for a kickstart to the day. A little research into recipes and a dash of imagination is all it takes to make the best use of foods this Autumn.

Why not try a Winter Nights Chilli by Jamie Oliver? Packed full of great spices, tasty vegetables and tender meat. ‘The meat will fall apart and melt in your mouth. It’s moreish, spicy and with a clever contrasting salsa is a total joy.’ (Winter Nights Chilli - The Happy Foodie)

Christmas & New Year Availability

A New Year, a new start, a new wave of hope. Never has the countdown to end one era and begin another been so welcome or so needed. CS Lewis said, “There are far, far better things ahead than any we will leave behind” and boy, do we need to leave Covid behind in 2020.

For every goodbye, there’s a shiny hello into something new and we now have 365 fresh chances ahead of us. When we say goodbye to 2020, let us say goodbye to loneliness, to separation, to anxiety about the unknown and when we say hello to 2021, let us remember what a global pandemic has taught us about the importance of togetherness.

At Happy Valley, while the world sat still, we watched nature blossom and would love nothing more than to welcome you to the landscape that kept us safe and sane this year. Heated and insulated cabins, surrounded by the magic of whispering trees, there’s no better place to reflect and feel renewed than Happy Valley.
