“Real freedom lies in
Wilderness, not in civilization”
- Charles Lindbergh
At Happy Valley, we come across more birds than people and more cows than traffic but in the absence of civilisation, so many possibilities for adventure open up for us, and that, in our humble opinion, is an absolute gift.
We do not measure someone’s worth here by the wealth that fills their pockets but by the love that fills their heart and the adventures that fill their soul. Happy Valley offers you nine acres of stunning woodland to explore, panoramic vistas of wildlife and an endless scope of possibilities.
When we consider going back to “normal”, one question that often brings about discussion at the moment is what parts of normal are worth going back to. If you’ve loved spending more time with your family but yearned for some outside space and the chance to roam free, then Happy Valley can marry the two together. As a wilderness retreat, we offer wide open spaces and luxury glamping facilities that enable you to be as adventurous or as glamourous as you would like. While children are roasting marshmallows over a firepit, you can be toasting a glass of prosecco in the wood-fired hot tub and gazing up at the stars.
Reasons why Glamping is the Ultimate Goal
Bear Grylls meets Sex in the City – at Happy Valley you can have the best of both worlds and have one foot in each camp, so to speak. Allow yourself to go trekking around the countryside and jump in muddy puddles & swim in the sea but then come back to a hot, waterfall shower and curl up by the log burner with a glass of wine.
Fill your life with stories and not stuff –forgo the latest pair of jeans or the ritual takeaway, ditch the recent video game and instead fill your life with memorable moments. When we look back on our lives, we won’t remember the brands we wore or the games we played, we’ll just cherish the times we had with loved ones.
What to do on a glamping weekend
Wander where the Wi-Fi is weak – yes, we have internet access and yes, you may use it but, do you really want to? Just think, no emails, no bills, no news notifications about the doom and gloom of the world’s socioeconomic status. A moment of bliss where the only thing that matters is the present and making the very most of it.
Sense every sense – listen to the earth’s heartbeat, feel the vibrations in the ground, touch the bark’s ridged edges and taste the fresh crispness of the air. Smell freshly cut grass, the aroma of flowers in bloom and open your eyes to the beauty of nature. Sometimes we overcomplicate everything in life when Mother Nature is the best bit.
Savour every moment – Remember this. When your children have grown, when your hands have hardened and laughter lines show the map of your life, remember the moments that became memories and treasure them. Run across the land, explore the wildlife here, cook over a camping stove, soak in the hot tub, curl up by the fire, relax on Willow Island; just breathe, just relax, just live.
